Heating and Air Conditioning?

I live in a one story house with a full basement. The basement is rented out to a party that does not smoke and I do. I have a swamp cooler up stairs and keep the windows open a few inches in all bedrooms, etc. Downstairs is regular A/C. OK, the question is that he is always bitching about my cigar smoke down stairs. I think that he is just a complainer as smoke goes up and with a swamp cooler it would force the smoke out the open windows, rather than to the downstairs. Am I right?

  1. Not if it is blown with force. It would be pushed away from the house. More than likely the smoke is getting in a return air duct that feeds the A.C.. And pushes the chilled air with smoke in it.
  2. you should check in your rent contract to see if that situation is covered.
