Is there a solution to fixing a water leak from a central air conditioning unit?

My central air conditioning unit in the basement is leaking water, is there a way I can fix it without calling for service?

  1. condensate drain line is blocked. you should be able to find the line leaving the unit and see if you can unblock or replace it.
  2. ya there is a solution.....
  3. You should have a pipe of some sort, usually white PVC, that comes out of the " A-coils" on your unit. That drain pipe that leads to a drain, or maybe to a "pump" that pumps it out, is plugged and not allowing the condensation to drain out of your ac unit. Just clean out that pipe, either with "forced air" or a strong vaccum, and that should fix the leaking on your unit, it's just overflowing because it can't drain.
  4. Your drain is probably filled with nasty stuff. Instead of the water going out the drain, like it is sposta, it is running over on the floor. Clean the drain. I use a garden sprayer and some dishwasher detergent. Be careful not to twist any lines and turn the power off at the box.
  5. clean your drain! this can be done by inserting a shop vac. over the drain pipe and turning it on. Por a little bit of bleach into the drain pan to keep it clean.
  6. I had the same problem recently. I found that my gardener filled my flower bed with new soil & covered the PVC condensation pipe coming from the air conditioning unit. I removed the soil, & the water just gushed out of the pipe. I haven't had a problem since.
