What temperature setting do you set your heatpump to? I've just had heatpumps installed in my house and now I wonder what temperature to set them to. 200 or 400 amp electrical service? I am remodeling a 5000 sq foot home that currently has 200 amp service. My contractor says we need to upgrade to 400 amps because we will have 2 heatpumps and one ac unit and about 75 recessed lighting fixtures when we're done. The developer says 200 amp service is fine for this load. Who is right?

Heatpump vs. Propane Furnace Education? Here in Tennessee we generally have mild winters. With electricity at $24.94 per Mbtu (resistance heat) and propane at $28.84 per Mbtu, I am thinking about installing a heat pump. Propane is expected to rise this winter,too. I have not kept up with the advances in heatpumps over the last decade or so. People tell me I want a "scroll" compressor. I don't know what that is. Honeywell RTH7400D Programming? I have a Trane XE1000 Heatpump with an Oil Furnace as auxilary. The Problem is that I am not sure which setting I should use *Multistage Heatpumps - Heatpump with Auxilary heat* or *Multistage Heatpumps - 2 Heat stages and 1 Cooling Stage*. Can anyone help me with this?

Underfloor heating + heat pumps? My partner & I are building a house in Wales, UK, in the next year (currently waiting to finish college & for the land to be turned over to us). We are interested in installing underfloor heating & using a ground heat source. A few month ago we went to the Homebuilding & Renovating Show for some advice on this but came back more confused than when we went. Has anybody got any advice or personal experience on this? Also, can anybody answer the following questions? - When in the building process does the underfloor heating get installed? (order of events) This question had varied answers in the show!! - Can u use any type of flooring with underfloor heating inc. Carpet and if so, does the thickness of the carpet matter? - Is it advised to have underfloor heating upstairs & downstairs? - Heatpumps or coils? - With the coils, does it really produce the enough heat to give enough hot water for the underfloor +tap water? - Any recommended companies?
